SETA is pleased to announce the appointment of Renee John as its new Deputy Director of Workforce Development, bringing more than a decade of executive leadership in workforce strategy, economic mobility, and systems‑level community impact.
Renee John is a strategic and collaborative leader with extensive experience strengthening regional workforce systems and building cross‑sector partnerships. Throughout her career, she has focused on advancing economic opportunity and improving outcomes for adults, youth, and underserved communities. In her new role, she will help guide the strategic direction and operational excellence of SETA’s Workforce Development, Refugee Services, and Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) programs.
John most recently served for six years at Valley Vision, a leading civic leadership organization dedicated to improving the livability of the Greater Sacramento region. There, she led major regional initiatives centered on workforce development, inclusive economic prosperity, and environmental sustainability. Her work frequently brought together education, industry, nonprofit, and government partners to strengthen alignment and improve long‑term workforce outcomes.
Before joining Valley Vision, John spent a decade with the Folsom Cordova Community Partnership, where she oversaw the Rancho Cordova Job Center and managed a broad portfolio of programs including youth employment services, refugee support, disability initiatives, financial empowerment programs, and family self‑sufficiency services. She has extensive experience managing complex federal, state, and local workforce grants designed to expand opportunity for individuals and families across the region.
A lifelong resident of the Sacramento area, John earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from California State University, Sacramento. She is deeply committed to strengthening communities, expanding economic mobility, and driving regional impact through collaborative leadership.
Reflecting on her new role, John shared, “I look forward to working with SETA to drive meaningful impact on behalf of our County, our region, and the communities we serve.” John will transition to SETA on April 1, 2026.
