SETA Joins Forces with Regional Partners to Form the Capital Region Biotech Talent Partnership

We Prosper Together

The Sacramento Employment and Training Agency (SETA) is excited to announce its participation in the Capital Region Biotech Talent Partnership, an innovative initiative funded by the We Prosper Together. This partnership aims to build pathways to biotech careers through strategic training, equity, and industry alignment, as part of a broader $9 million investment in transformative projects across the Capital Region to ensure local participation and prioritize economic equity.

“We are incredibly excited to be part of this collective initiative,” said Anita Maldonado, Executive Director of SETA. “Our collaboration with We Prosper Together and other key stakeholders will enable us to provide valuable training and career opportunities in the biotech sector, fostering economic resilience and growth in our community.”

The Capital Region Biotech Talent Partnership will focus on equipping individuals with the skills needed to thrive in the biotech industry, ensuring equitable access to career opportunities, and fostering innovation. By working closely with local educational institutions, industry leaders, and community organizations, this initiative aims to create a robust talent pipeline that meets the growing demands of the biotech sector.

Key Strategies and Partnerships

The Capital Region Biotech Talent Partnership is driven by key strategies and robust partnerships aimed at strengthening Sacramento’s biotech workforce. This initiative focuses on expanding employer partnerships with pilot employers like Orca Bio and Jackson Labs, aligning training programs with industry needs through demand-driven designing and piloting, and launching real-time workforce forecasting tools to address talent shortages. Additionally, innovative talent financing models and work-based learning programs are being piloted to ensure equitable pathway development. Strategic partners, including Capitol Impact, Wexford Connect Labs, the City of Sacramento Office of Innovation & Economic Development, Biocom California Institute, California Department of Rehabilitation, and Thermo Fisher, are collaborating to support equitable implementation and regional field building. Together, these efforts aim to create a robust talent pipeline, foster inclusive workforce development, and position Sacramento as a leading biotech hub.

Looking Ahead

The initiative will culminate in the 2026 Sacramento Region Biotech Symposium, showcasing regional collaboration and attracting future investments. By removing barriers and fostering inclusive workforce development, this effort positions Sacramento as a leading biotech hub.
