Connecting top talent with great opportunities
On Tuesday, June 3rd, we partnered with the Sacramento Area Sewer District (Sac Sewer) to host a targeted recruitment event aimed at filling key positions across the organization. The event was held at our Del Paso building and brought in qualified job seekers interested in roles ranging from civil engineers and senior account clerks to environmental health and safety technicians and operations managers.
From strategy to action
Leading up to the event, our Employer Services Team toured the Sac Sewers’ EchoWater Resource Recovery Facility in December of 2024. We worked closely with Sac Sewer to understand their hiring needs, workplace culture, and tailor outreach accordingly. What started as a search for civil engineers quickly expanded to include a wider array of open positions. Through targeted promotion on LinkedIn, Facebook, CalJOBS, and through our network of past job fair participants, registration numbers steadily grew, even in the final days before the event.
Of the 65 individuals who registered, 17 attended in person, which aligns with typical turnout rates. Even more encouraging, a significant majority of attendees took action on the spot, using our on-site computer lab to apply for open positions with Sac Sewer during the event.
Laying the groundwork for future collaboration
The event not only provided Sac Sewer with qualified applicants, it also laid the foundation for future recruitment efforts, all which are done through our Sacramento Works program. Representatives from multiple departments were on-site and expressed interest in potentially expanding future events to include a broader cross-section of the organization’s hiring needs.
With positive feedback from both recruiters and attendees, the event served as a successful model for how SETA can support public agencies in reaching and engaging job seekers effectively.
