May was a busy and exciting month for our Sacramento Works Program. We hosted multiple events focused on what the program does best – connecting employers with qualified, motivated job seekers. From large-scale career fairs to targeted recruitment and rapid response services, we’re proud to support Sacramento’s hiring needs.
Work4CA Career Fair
Our biggest event of the month, the Work4CA Spring Career Fair, took place on May 22. This year, we expanded the event with indoor and outdoor spaces, three check-in time blocks, and an extended seminar space that held up to 80 participants. The result was a smooth, well-organized day that brought in over 400 job seekers.

Employers from across the state – including Cal Fire, SMUD, Department of Transportation, and several healthcare and finance agencies – shared overwhelmingly positive feedback. Recruiters noted the high quality of attendees were prepared, professional, and eager to get to work.
Targeted hiring

Targeted Hiring Events Yield Real Results
On May 13, we hosted the Department of Industrial Relations for a workshop series on Becoming a Competitive Candidate, How to Complete a Statement of Qualifications, and How to Navigate CalCareers.
The following week, we welcomed OBTT (Off-Base Transition Training), offering a session on Marketing Yourself and Job Fair Strategies and Networking. That same week, we hosted a recruitment event for Atlas Disposal. Nearly 20 job seekers showed up, and four candidates are already moving toward employment. It’s a strong example of how fast and effective SETA’s recruitment support can be when employers take advantage of our resources.
Bringing Workforce Services to the Community
We also took our efforts on the road. SETA staff supported community events such as the Mirasol Career Hiring Event and employment and resource gatherings for community residents. These events allowed us to reach job seekers directly in their neighborhoods, something we’re committed to continuing.
Here When You’re Hiring or Downsizing
Our work doesn’t stop at hiring. Our Sacramento Works Program also supports employers during layoffs through our Rapid Response services. In May, we assisted several businesses, including Highlands Community Charter and Technical School, which is undergoing a reduction in staff. We provide early intervention, customized support, and access to resources to help employers and workers navigate transitions.
