Celebrating a Strong Turnout at November’s Veterans Job Fair

SETA was proud to partner with the California Employment Development Department (EDD) to host this year’s Veterans Job Fair on November 5th at the B.T. Collins Army Reserve Center, marking this our fourth annual event. Even with a little rain in the forecast, the community showed up in full force. More than 50 employers and resource partners participated, representing a wide range of industries including civil service, energy, transportation, logistics, broadcasting, and healthcare. Employers such as SMUD, Caltrans, FedEx Ground, the California Public Utilities Commission, and many others met with more than 250 job seekers throughout the day.

This year’s event also included outstanding support from partners like Volunteers of America’s Stand Down department, which generously contributed refreshments for employers and staff, and Yolo County, which assisted with job-seeker check-in. We’re also grateful to the Army Reserve team, who volunteered their time during the federal shutdown not only to provide the facility, but also to support setup and teardown and ensure everything ran smoothly.

In the weeks leading up to the event, job seekers had the opportunity to participate in workshops led by Off-Base Transition Training (OBTT), covering strategies & networking skills for job fairs, and interview preparation. These sessions helped many attendees feel more confident and ready to connect with employers.

As we wrap up another successful year, SETA, along with our EDD partner, is already looking ahead. We’re exploring expanded workshop options, on-site interview rooms, and other enhancements to make next year’s fair even more impactful for veterans, their families, and the broader community.
