Outlook 2010 Update

To All Seta Employees,

SETA is converting from Novell Groupwise to Microsoft Outlook for email, calendars and address books.   Outlook is being installed on all staff computers and you have been given a new email address (firstname.lastname@seta.net).  Outlook orientation classes are being held in the Jupiter room and you can register on-line @ http://caiz.seta.net/caizII/ – click on “Computer Related”.  Between now and the end of August Groupwise will continue to be available. We encourage you to start using Outlook now.  All of your Groupwise emails that you receive will be forwarded over to your new outlook email account.  This will help ease the transition and familiarize you with the new email software.  It is important to note that when you are sending emails in Outlook you will need to use the delpaso.seta.net/headstart.seta.net  email address until everyone is using Outlook.  You will notice in the Outlook Address book everyone’s name is in there twice.  This is because one email address is seta.net and the other one is delpaso.seta.net or headstart.seta.net.  Please choose the delpaso.seta.net until everyone has converted over to Outlook.  eMail messages sent to your Groupwise account will continue to be forwarded to your new Outlook account for the foreseeable future.   eMails sent from your Outlook account will contain your new email address.

As part of this conversion process all emails in your Groupwise account will be moved into your Outlook account along with your contacts and calendar entries.  Distribution lists will be moved to Outlook but the contents (email addresses contained within) will not be converted.  They will however still work but should be converted to Outlook addresses in September.  Your Groupwise archive emails will not be converted to Outlook but you can reference your archive and old emails by logging into our Retain server at http://fsrt1.seta.int/RetainServer/Manager/login.jsp.

If you have any additional questions please contact an Outlook training team member (Staci Foster, Jaime Serrano, Wendy Tanner, Rachel Sattel, and Lin Morgan).
