CareerGPS.com
CareerGPS.com is a one-of-a-kind, interactive web-based application designed to provide job seekers, students, workforce development professionals, teachers, and employers with one central location to find the information they need to make informed education and career decisions. The searchable web based application is broken down by the following sections:

- summary job forecast detail (primary occupation) including wage and salary estimates and the typical education or training level;
- growth rate estimates over time; projected job demand; and estimates of new and replacement jobs;

- ability to compare two or more of the providers and their related program detail for the occupation and;
- O*NET detail, including tasks, knowledge, skills, abilities, job zone detail, and work styles and values related to the occupation.
A provider section (Find a School) that contains an alphabetical listing of nearly 200 public and private sector education and training providers located primarily in the six county Sacramento region (El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba counties) sorted by sector. The details in this section also includes the following:

- program name with the ability to link to program detail;
- provider name with hyperlink to the provider’s website (if available) and;

Occupational Outlook Report — A series of two-page occupational profile summaries of descriptive and statistical occupational information based primarily on data collected through confidential surveys with local employers. Each profile follows a consistent format for presenting numerous data elements, including occupation title and definition, wages and benefits, typical employer requirements, supply-demand assessment, estimated current size of the occupation locally, and employment trends. Also included is the year in which the data was collected, the number of participating employers, and the number of employees represented.
Regional Workforce Forecast — Provides a industry/occupation forecast for the Sacramento region through the year 2015. This industry data represents the top 75 industry sectors and sub-sectors in the region (representing more than 80% of the total employment) and the occupational make-up of each sub-sector. Individuals can access this forecast data by either major industry sector or by training level. Elements include employment data estimates by occupation within each sector as well as the projected the number of new jobs and replacement jobs over a given period of time.
Interest Profiler — A career exploration tool, based on the O*NET Interest Profiler, that helps individuals identify the occupations they are most interested in. Individuals identify and learn about broad interest areas most relevant to them. The Interest Profiler measures six types of occupational interests based on Holland’s R-I-A-S-E-C Interest Structure (Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional). The resulting interest areas allow the individual to identify occupations of interest by Job Zone (preparation time) from Little/No job preparation to Extensive job preparation. The assessment takes less than 30 minutes to complete. Requires account log-in/registration to save results.
Account Log-in — Allows users of the CareerGPS.com website to create their own account within the website. Registration gives users of the website the ability to save the results of their interest profiler assessment and to bookmark their search locations for future ease of access. Individuals who create an account can also download industry sector and sub-sector data for their own purposes.
Map of Schools — Allows individuals the ability to identify where an education or training provider is geographically located and to create driving directions. Also included is the ability to link to the specific provider’s complete school profile within CareerGPS.com. Users can view all education and training sectors (refresh button will bring map to all sector state) or view a specific sector by selecting a sector from list directly beneath the map. Users can use the zoom slide bar or double click on the screen to zoom in. Users can also hold down the left mouse button to move the entire map.
