Refugee Program Eligibility

The Refugee Program provides employment and social services to refugees, asylees and victims of human trafficking.

Generally, individuals who meet the following criteria are eligible for refugee services: Sacramento County residents who have been in the United States less than five years, 16 years of age or older; and not a full-time student in primary or secondary school, and are:

  • Refugee/Asylee
  • Entrant
  • Amerasian
  • Human Trafficking Victim
  • U.S. citizen

A Refugee is a person outside of his or her country of nationality who is unable or unwilling to return because of persecution, or a well-founded fear of persecution, on account of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion.
